Hello Everyone great community here and very useful information.

Received the email from Cris I-140 approved today.

I just would like to know how long it should generally take for I-485 approval. Now visa's were current when I file I485. What is the status now do I have to wait for visa's to be current again? Sorry for lack of knowledge GC process takes so long sometimes its good to just forget about it :)

H1 8th year still current :)
EAD 07/07
AP 07/07
PD AUG 2003 EB3 Retro
I-140 Approved Today

I-485 pending since 07/07 ???????????????????

Don't know if it will help anybody since i'm a June filer. I didn't file EAD along with AOS in June, but on July 11th i filed EAD with 485 RN. My check got cashed on the 13th and got the receipt# from the back. The case status says they received the application on 12th. I haven't got the Receipt notice yet though. I did write I-765 on the package.

Hi,

My Spouse Application was rejected due to incorrect fee though the USCIS were accepting application with old fee till august 17th! It was filed on August3rd! and it was with old fee! Will it be accepted if we send a letter that the fee was right the first time!

Has anybody's both primary and spouse applications got the receipts with old FEES and had applied in AUGUST, Pls reply asap as my spouse application rejected and we had applied on august 3rd!

Can i cancel appoinment one day before.
I saw in www.vfs-usa.co.in website ,have to cancel before two working days of appointment day.
If i cancel appointmentafter few days will i have to fill again DS156,157 forms for appointment.
In website they said cant cancel appointment 2 times.After 2 times cancelation have to wait 90 days with that hdfc barcode.
Before 90 days period can we fix new appoinment by paying agian into HDFC bank.Is this possible new appointment with new barcode.

Hello,

I am from India and currently visiting USA on B2 visa. I recently got a job with a very reputed firm in US and applied for an H1B but my application reached USCIS after the H1B quota was full.

I really want to work for my new employer and would like to know what other options do I have to obtain work permit in USA other than L1 Visa?

If it is a non profit research org or institute of higher education then H1 will not be counted towards quota. On the other hand if you have the credentials you can try for "O" VISA

Only during I 140 USCIS will ask for Exp letter whatever you showed in PERM. I think your previous exp should be related to your new job role.

What are the best and low risk options to convert to H4 status. Please advice

send them the business week article. In my company along with me 4 other folks also affected due to visa bulletin mess. I sent them an email on July 9th 2007 about flower campaign organized by IV to USCIS director. The sad part is no body showed any interest and bothered to reply. They are also going to benefited by this decision. These people still beleive in Murthy and other lawyer firm updates. I really don't know how to make these folks interested in IV. Any ideas or other personal stories.

Hi,

I need to get my H1B stamped in Mexico. I know there are some agencies which offer a complete package trip to the Mexico US Consulate. Does anybody know some names and contact information?

I am based in Los Angeles and am pretty close to Mexico border. Do they have something in Southern California? Other places are also Ok.

Hi,

My fiance has filed for h1 extension. we will be travelling to india for marriage by dec. since petition papers are not expected to come by December, i was thinking if the following can be done

1. she comes along with me under h4 visa.
2. once petion paper comes, her visa status changes from h4 to h1 and then she can continue her job.

is this possible?

will h1 visa processing continue to happen when one comes to US under H4 visa.

I know many friends of mine, who has done B.E and MS from diferent background (like Mechanical, Electronics etc) and were still able to get the LC approved from a software company since they were working there. There should not be any issue with it.

I Just learnt that the Name Check for my I-485 was processed under a different Alien number when it should be processed by alien number assigned in I-485 case. Since it was cleared under a different number (probably the one for I-140), I-485 file did not have this information and now they are getting it fixed. So when everything in my case is current, this came up right at the time when they will almost be getting out of visa #s. :(

I recommend you should all contact your service centers where your I-485 was filed and make sure that yoru name check is in process or got processed under correct alien number. If the service center refuse to provide any information, contact your congressman office and have them verify this information. You can find who is your local congressman by going to http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/.

I am a July' 07 I-485 filer and have received my EAD and AP.

I am currently on H1 and not using my EAD yet.

In my situation can I accept any contract work on 1099? This will be beside my full time work.

Do I have to switch to EAD from H1 to accept 1099 for contract work?

I believe you have to switch to an EAD if you want to engage in some work on the side.
