Kindly note that my suggestion to look for other opportunities is ONLY directed at youngsters in their early and mid 30s..not for people like you are me who are in this mess! i left UK and came here ...that was a GREAT and WISE decision!!!! ha ha ha !!! (Before leaving , I told my friends there ---> I am going for a great future...I am sure my friends are laughing at me now!!!) If I had stayed there I would have become a citizen of UK with the whole of EU open for employment and Visa free travel to the whole world..
I do not want my younger brothers and sisters from India to suffer like me..I have NOTHING to gain in this process!
We have to stay and fight UNITEDLY or go back to India...choice is yourrs and mine !!!!

This is an interesting development. It will create a clear division among supporters of CIR. It is so enticing to say,"who cares about CIR if we have SKIL" from our perspective. Hopefully this is a sincere effort not just some political posturing.
We will find out.

Skilled Bill
In a move that high-tech groups predict could break the impasse over immigration legislation, Arizona’s John Shadegg, a member of the House leadership, says he’ll introduce legislation to increase visas and citizenship opportunities for skilled workers.
The bill mirrors a Senate Republican-sponsored bill and would more than double the number of temporary visas and permanent green cards available to skilled workers each year. The bill also would make it easier for U.S.-educated foreign nationals to stay here after graduation and work in their field of study.
The measure is the first time Republican conservatives in the House have endorsed any immigration bill that didn’t deal solely with border enforcement. A Shadegg spokesman said some House members also favor passing a measure that makes more visas available to agriculture workers. He predicted that action could begin on both measures after Congress comes back from its summer recess — and after a long string of House immigration hearings has run its course.
That still leaves out a guest-worker program and some plan for dealing with illegal immigrants already here, but would inch the House closer to a Senate immigration-overhaul bill.
Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R., Wis.) has insisted he won’t permit any immigration bill to pass until border enforcement is tightened. If a measure that eases visa backlogs for highly skilled workers has to go through his committee, “that could be a problem,” says a Shadegg spokesman.
But high-tech groups say the bill shines attention on their need for skilled workers, and on what they call the dangers to U.S. competitiveness if more visas aren’t made available. “It lets us talk about our issue,” says the National Association of Manufacturers’s Sandra Boyd. –June Kronholz

I don't personally think we had much media coverage except some hidden links, can we post some paid adds where everyone can get know what we are addressing in here i.e., on the front page of google, yahoo, msn, cnn, etc. I know some people might have second thoughts as it involves $ but I'm ready for it to get public attention. There is a thin line between legal and illigal and they are ready to club both together for their benefits. I'm starting to wonder how many people know what is going on, we have to educate them first.
I support this, and am ready to contribute $, time and sweat. We need visibility. Our main goal is to EDUCATE people, (and even the government!) that we are the totally opposite of illegals! The Congressman who spoke at our rally had a lot of good intentions, but then he started talking about how "illegal immigrants are also people who look like me"(meaning Caucasian/White) and he mentioned the thousands of illegal Irish immigrants living in Boston, who have a group called "Legalize the Irish Now".... those comments had no place in our rally of highly-skilled LEGAL immigrants! And that was a Congressman talking. EDUCATION IS THE WORD, and we need to invest in it NOW!! Let's go guys! Ideas!???

If I were you I would not go after chasing USCIS. But this is what I would do.Enjoy your GC and freedom
Congratulations and enjoy your green card! Don't worry about the priority dates not being current when yours was approved. My green card was approved in September 2007, sometime after the July fiasco wherein the PD for all categories became unavailable. Since my gc approval, I've been in and out of the US, and I hadn't had any single problem getting back in.

People like bigtime008 are loosers.
They will think of themselves only. Characteristics of such peoiple are: Selfish
Instead of celebrating the greater good for all, they are just worried about what they are getting out of it.
These people join a group for security; but will always think only about themselves and will take every opportunity to demoralize the whole team.
We know BEC is an issue and there is sympathy for them, but does it mean we want to stop 700K people with families not getting a chance to better their lives.

I have been thinking about whether to attend the rally or not from past few weeks. Attending the rally would require me to take a day off. Finally today without thinking twice I just went to my manager asked if I can take day off on 9/18 instead compensate the work in the following saturday. It was approved and I am attending the rally on 9/18!
I am feeling so good now.
Also, I live in DC area and can help if somebody needs to be picked from airport to the rally and drop them back if needed.
Hope to see thousands on 9/18th...
ALL THE BEST TO OUR CAUSE!
Regards.

Thanks kshitijnt.......
After posting my question here I was searching on the net and came across This doc (Topic # 4) (http://www.murthy.com/mb_pdf/mar1904.pdf) which states that......
USCIS is seeking for the current immigration status and not the one we entered on.
The above referenced document is pretty old and I don't know how far it is reliable....any insights?

Hi
I am currently in US. I Have withCompany A for almost 2 years, I plan to do H1 transfer to Company B, Here I understand, I need to give last two months pay statements (ie., pay statement with Company A).
I can join in Company B at any time once H1 Transfer done.
At the same time, My Company A is planning to do H1 transfer to its sister concern Company C.
Scenario A)
Assume I transferred my H1b to Company B my own (using Company A's two month pay statement), then after 10 days
my present Company A transferred my H1b to Company C,
Ie., I gets pay statements from Company C.
Queries #1)
Can I join with Company B ?
Should I need to produce Company C's pay statement if I decided to join with Company B ?
Should I need to do another H1 Transfer to Company B ?
becz, I did H1 transfer to Company B before I join to Company C.
Scenario B).
Assume
I didnot transfer my H1b to company B,
My present Company A transferred my H1b to Company C,
Queries #1)
Can I do H1 Transfer after I join in Company C (with in 1 or 2 months) ?
Could you please advise. Thank you.

The document mailed is your APPROVED AP.
Congrats!!
Thanks , I appreciate your reply.
I am more concern about the text, In one message says: Approval notice sent, in the other application, which is as follows, says Document mailed to applicant, (Status does not say, "APPROVED")
Receipt Number: SRCXXXXXXXXXXXX
Application Type: I131, APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT
Current Status: Document mailed to applicant.
On July 1, 2008 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service.

risker,
Why don't you send PM to IV core members and discuss the issue with them? This may be your starting point. Discuss with them about IVs position on this issue and how soon they may take up this issue with high priority. Also they may advice you about the right persons (senators/Congressmen) to contact etc.
I advice do not use this forum to communicate with IV core team as you already know very well that there are many people who are already scared to lose their chance if your labor is approved.
Regards.

You stand a better chance of getting it through your kids if they are citizens than getting it through EB3. There are a few options to get green card faster. Canada is not one of them.
1. Get a Ph.D, get a job in a univ and apply in EB-1.
2. Get a MBA and get a management job and apply in EB-1.
3. Become a religious worker in some temple and apply in the religious worker category.
i think by the time i finish my Ph. D. or part time MBA,i would have got my canadian PR....so i'll just apply for canada and wait instead of slogging it out with phd or mba

Pappu,
I have helped in some other initiatives, but not donated money primarily because I was disgusted with some folks calling non-donors as free loaders. Anyway, since it is needed for our cause and our voice at this moment, I have donated $50. First time ever! Do keep up the good work that you guys always excelled at!

There are certainly anti-immigration groups like IEEE/US and others who will use every weapon at their disposal to sabotage legislations like SKIL BILL etc.
I'm not sure about the assumption that IEEE/US is anti-immigration group. They have lobbied for the PACE act in Senate and STEM act in the house: http://www.ieeeusa.org/policy/issues/innovation/index.asp
Both of them are for skilled immigrants. I cannot imagine that they will sabotage SKIL bill.
